TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University
baseball team looks to continue last week's mid-week success as the
Golden Eagles head into hostile territory at No. 24 Mississippi
State on Tuesday night. First pitch against the Bulldogs is
scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Before dropping two of three to McNeese State over the weekend,
the Golden Eagles (21-28, 14-10 SLC) went to Springfield, Mo., and
took a pair of mid-week contests from Missouri State. Mississippi
State (37-15, 14-13 SLC) also lost its most recent weekend series
against rival Ole Miss, winning just one of the three games.
Since the beginning of May, Kevin
Cho and Tyler
Boss have sparked the Golden Eagle offense. Cho has hit .455
since the beginning of the month, including two four-hit games,
while Boss has blasted four home runs and doubled four times.
The Bulldogs have their own power hitter in Hunter Renfroe. The
junior is currently fifth in the nation with 15 home runs and has
the fourth-best slugging percentage at .750. Tuesday's probable
starter, Trevor Fitts, will be making his first start of the
season.
Gavin
Glanz (1-3) is scheduled to start for the Golden Eagles.
MSU is just one of four Southeastern Conference teams ORU has
never faced on the diamond. The last Golden Eagle victory against
an SEC member came just a season ago, when they defeated Alabama,
3-2.
