CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Spencer Henson and Hunter Swift hit two-out home runs for the Oral Roberts baseball team in an 8-3 loss to BYU Saturday afternoon at Whataburger Field.

Henson blasted the first pitch he saw in the first inning for a solo home run giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead. Swift tallied his first hit in the navy and gold lining a two-run shot that cleared the fence in right to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth, 3-3.

BYU responded to the game-tying swing by plating the next five runs to secure the tournament victory behind a perfect 3-0 weekend handing ORU its second-straight loss.

Turning Point

After jumping in front 4-3 in the sixth, the Cougars broke the game open in the top of the seventh scoring four times to stretch their advantage to 8-3. BYU took advantage of a walk and hit batter to get the inning started adding a RBI single from Jackson Cluff, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. The Cougars added runs on a balk and throwing error in the frame and capped the scoring hitting a RBI single.
