The Basics
Score: Oral Roberts 4 – Oklahoma 2 (11 innings)

Location:

NORMAN, Okla. – Isaac Coffey and Hunter Swift hit RBI singles in the top of the 11th inning as the Oral Roberts baseball team took down Oklahoma, 4-2, Tuesday night at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The Golden Eagles had to erase a pair of one-run deficits and used the long ball to do so as Riley Keizor turned and torched a solo home run to left tying the game in the second, 1-1. Blake Hall used a solo shot in the eighth to even the score again helping send the game into extra innings, 2-2.

It was pitching by committee for the Golden Eagles as seven different arms saw the mound in the mid-week affair limiting the Sooners to two runs on five hits. The bullpen kept OU off the board for the final 8.2 frames allowing the offense to deliver late in the game.

ORU registered three of its eight hits for extra bases, including the pair of home run swings, but it was singles late that did the damage. Three singles in the final frame led to its first road win at Oklahoma since 2015.

Spencer Henson struck out the side to close out the ballgame for his second save, but not before the Sooners hit a one-out single and drew a walk putting the tying run on base to make things tense.

Quote of the Day

"It's a good team win all around. We did a lot of things well tonight. I think that obviously starts on the mound and to hold that kind of club to two runs is good and gives yourself chance to win. The bullpen was good and they were sharp. They pitched into trouble a couple of times with walks, but they were able to make some pitches and get out of it." – Head Coach Ryan Folmar

Turning Point

Hunter Wilson led the 11th inning with a single up the middle and Drew Lowe drew a one-out walk putting the go-ahead run into scoring position. Coffey came through in the clutch sending the first pitch he saw right back up the middle and Wilson dove home safely to break the 2-2 tie. After the Sooners got the second out, Swift laced a RBI single to right and Lowe avoided the tag touching home plate to put ORU in front 4-2.

Inside the Box Score

- After Hall opened the game offensively with a double, the junior put together his fourth-consecutive effort with multiple hits finishing 2-for-4 on the home run in the eighth. Keizor sent a much-needed long ball well clear of the fence in left for his first home run of the season in the second.

- Swift picked up his second win in relief throwing two innings and gave up just one hit, while Trey Wolf and Henson each struck out three OU hitters. AJ Archambo, Landon Odom and Sam Rainwater also pitched scoreless work from the bullpen.

- Tuesday marked the third time the Golden Eagles went to extra innings in the previous five games, a span of eight days, going 2-1 in those contests. It was the first game that went past the 10th this season and first-ever, extra-inning win against the Sooners.
