Â
TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts baseball team hit three home runs Saturday afternoon at Chapman Park, powering them to a series sweep over Arkansas Pine-Bluff.
Â
Ethan Fender,
Wailele Kane-Yates, and
Cooper Combs all his three-run homers to propel ORU to the 19-0 win. Fender's home run was his first in a Golden Eagle uniform.
Â
The route was on from the beginning, with ORU posting a five-spot in the opening frame thanks to a sacrifice fly from Combs, a
Jack Schark RBI single to right field, and Fender's three-run shot. From there, the Golden Eagles never looked back, taking a 14-0 lead after three innings of play.Â
Â
The pitching staff flashed their talents, too, giving up a combined one-hitter.Â
Trent Martin made his first start as a Golden Eagle, going 4.0 shutout, one-hit innings while walking and striking out one batter each.
Â
The Bullpen showcased three arms in the finale, with
Easton Teel,
Conner Johnson, and
Jack Hill each posting scoreless innings.Â
Â
After ORU took a 19-0 lead in the fifth inning, it was mutually agreed upon to call the game a "run rule" upon the conclusion of the top of the seventh, giving the Golden Eagles the series sweep to open the 2025 season. Â
