TEMPE, Ariz. - The Oral Roberts baseball team used ninth-inning magic to steal game one from Arizona State 8-7.

ORU used the home run ball early and often to keep themselves in the game as Will Edmundson led the Golden Eagles off with his first homer of the season.

The Sun Devils responded with one run in the second and three in the third to take the lead on two RBI base hits, a fielder's choice, and a steal of home to take a 4-1 lead after three.

The long ball kept ORU in the game with solo homers from Jack Schark and Martell Davis cut a 4-1 lead to one.  Later, Cooper Combs would launch a two-run shot to cut a four-run deficit to 7-5.

In the seventh, the Golden Eagles stranded a man in scoring position with a chance to cut the lead to one.

Right-handers Jared Ure and Jack Hill threw 3.2 scoreless innings in relief of left-handed starter Weston Rouse to keep the Golden Eagles in it down the stretch.

In the ninth, the pair from Hawaii came through in the clutch as Makani Tanaka tied the game with a two-RBI single.  Moments later, Wailele Kane-Yates gave ORU an 8-7 lead with a base knock up the middle.

In the bottom of the ninth right-hander Dalton Patten took over for his second appearance of the season looking for his second save of the season.  The Sun Devils put a runner in scoring position by stealing second but Patten shut the door as the Golden Eagles took down the Sun Devils 8-7.
