TULSA, OKLA. – The Oral Roberts baseball team came up short in a comeback effort against North Dakota State dropping game one of the doubleheader 9-8.
Easton Teel threw 5.2 innings in relief surrendering eight hits, three runs, one earned, and struck out five.
The Bison came out hot scoring four times in the top of the first highlighted by a three-run homer. The third NDSU used the long ball again with a solo homer to grow the lead.
It was more of the same in the fourth and fifth for the Bison plating four more runs across the two frames to go up 9-0, ORU's largest deficit this season.
After going hitless in the first four innings, the Golden Eagle Bats came alive in the fifth with a
Will Edmunson three-run homer to get on the board. The right fielder has now homered in back-to-back games.
After Teel tossed a scoreless top of the sixth ORU came back with three more runs thanks to RBI singles from
Jack Schark and
Martell Davis to cut the lead to three runs.
Wailele Kane-Yates was back in the lineup for the first time since Friday and showed up big in the later innings homering in the seventh to bring the Golden Eagles within two. In the ninth, he would homer again with ORU down their final strike to cut the deficit to one. That is as close as ORU would get as they lost the Summit League opener 9-8.

TULSA, OKLA. – The Oral Roberts baseball team struggled to find the bats in game two as they were shut out by North Dakota State 3-0.
Wailele Kane-Yates capped off an impressive day with his second consecutive multi-hit performance.
It was a pitcher's duel to start game two of the doubleheader as right-hander
Nathan Love got out to a fast start getting through four shutout innings. NDSU would find their footing against Love in the fifth however knocking him out of the game after plating two in the frame to open the scoring.
The Bison would get back in the scoring column in the seventh with an RBI single taking a three-run advantage.
ORU's offense struggled to figure out Bison starter Logan Knight going 1-2-3 in six of nine frames. The Golden Eagles had their best chance in the fifth with back-to-back singles to lead off the frame, but a 6-4-3 double play put the threat to bed.
Jared Ure provided a spark in relief, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings, including back-to-back 1-2-3 innings in the eighth and ninth. However, the Golden Eagle offense went quietly in the ninth and dropped game two of the doubleheader 3-0.
