OMAHA, NEB. - The Oral Roberts baseball team scored in each of the last three innings to take the series opener over Omaha by a final of 8-6.

Will Edmunson extended his hit streak to 15 games, going 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, and a walk in the win.

The Golden Eagle struck in the top of the first inning for the third straight game as Edmunson led the game off with a double and was driven in two batters later with a
Wailele Kane-Yates sacrifice fly to open the scoring.

Easton Teel remained in control through the first three innings until Omaha's offense got started with two innings in the home half of the fourth inning with a two-run double to take their first and only lead of the game.

ORU responded quickly in the top of the fifth inning with two of their own to take the lead back on back-to-back RBI singles from Kane-Yates and
Jack Schark to go up by a run.

Two innings later,
Martell Davis blasted his team-leading seventh homer of the season in the seventh, and later in the inning, two runs of insurance came in on Makani Tanak's RBI double, making it a 6-2 ballgame.

The Mavericks wouldn't go quietly as they scored four times in the home half of the seventh off a pair of two-run shots, evening the score at six apiece.

In the eighth,
Owen Coil stayed scorching hot, launching his third homer of the road trip, giving the Golden Eagles a 7-6 lead right before the game was suspended due to severe weather in the area. Game one would resume on Friday afternoon, and ORU would score one more time in the ninth on an
Ethan Fender sacrifice fly, scoring Edmunson to extend the lead to two runs.

Jared Ure got the nod to finish off the rest of game one, and he did just that, going six up, six down, picking up his second save of the season in securing an 8-6 series opening win.
