 FARGO, ND. - The Oral Roberts baseball team executes down the stretch to grab the series opener 2-1 in extras against North Dakota State.

Right-hander
Easton Teel threw 7.0 innings, giving up four hits, one unearned run, one walk, and striking out four Friday night.
Â
In a game where pitching was the story, the Bison wasted no time getting on the scoreboard firs,t grabbing a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an error in left field.

ORU struck right back in the top of the second as
Makani Tanaka doubled with one out and came around to score two batters later on a wild pitch to tie the game at one.Â

After that, it was zero after zero as the Bison and Golden Eagle pitching staffs dominated from the bottom of the second inning through the rest of regulation. Teel tossed another quality start, his sixth in seven starts, and
Dalton Patten struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to send the series opener to the tenth.

In extras, ORU presented itself with an opportunity as
Martell Davis walked on four pitches. Moments later,
Will Edmunson reached on an infield single, and a throwing error on the play allowed Davis to go to third. The next at bat,
Cooper Combs hit a sacrifice fly to the warning track in left field, scoring Davis and giving the Golden Eagles their first lead.

In the bottom half,
Dalton Patten allowed the leadoff man to reach with a single but threw him out at second on a fielder's choice on the next at-bat. Patten was able to sit down the next two Bison, and ORU grabbed the series opener 2-1 in 10 innings.Â
