TALLAHASSEE, FL€"Matt Sauls drilled a one-out RBI
single in the ninth inning, lifting No. 24 Florida State to a 4-3
win over Oral Roberts on Sunday at Dick Howser Stadium.

With the score tied at
3-3 entering the bottom of the ninth, ORU's Adam Lesko (Las Vegas,
Nev.) walked pinch hitter Gibbs Champman leading off the inning.
After Aaron Cheesman sacrificed Chapman to second, Lesko was
relieved by Dane
Towery (Mustang, Okla.) and Sauls ripped Towery's second
pitch through the left side of the infield, scoring Chapman with
the game winning run.

The loss spoiled a
spectacular relief outing for Lesko (0-1), who allowed just one hit
and struck out eight while walking four in 6.2 innings of work.

The Golden Eagles had a
chance to take the lead in the top of the ninth but couldn't
capitalize on a one-on, one-out situation as Jeff Tuttle (Orange,
Calif.) grounded into an inning-ending double play, ORU's fourth of
the game.

Florida State grabbed
an early 3-0 lead, getting a run in the first and two more in the
second off ORU starter Matt Hancock (Okmulgee,
Okla.). The Golden Eagles cut the lead to 3-1 on Boomer Welles' (Beverly
Hills, Calif.) RBI single in the fifth, and made it a 3-2 game in
the sixth when Brian
Hanson's (Kelseyville, Calif.) RBI single scored Matt VanDerBosch
(Hastings, Minn.) from second.

ORU tied it in the top
of the eight off FSU reliever Rhett James (1-0). VanDerBosch
singled with one out, advanced to third on a single by Hanson, and
scored on a groundout by Grant Plumley (Lake Forest,
Calif.).

For the second straight
game the Golden Eagles Out-hit the Seminoles, this time by an 8-5
count. Hanson led the way, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Welles was
2-for-4 with an RBI, and VanDerBosch had one hit, scored twice and
stole a base, his 10th of the year in 10 attempts.

The Golden Eagles
return to action when they host Sacred Heart for a three-game
series, beginning 3 p.m., Friday at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
