TULSA, Okla. – Freshman Isaac Coffey drove in seven runs powering the Oral Roberts baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Purdue at J.L. Johnson Stadium Friday claiming game one, 5-1, before a 10-4 victory to close the day.

Golden Eagles' starting pitcher Josh McMinn nearly went the distance in the opener, aided by a three-run home run from Coffey and a solo blast by Trevor McCutchin, to tally the victory as the senior limited the Boilermakers to one run.

ORU pounced on Purdue early in game two scoring four in the first before another pair in the second. The offense continued in the fourth plating two more runs stretching its lead to 8-1 and Spencer Henson and Coffey closed the double dip hitting late-inning solo home runs.

Quote of the Day

"Isaac Coffey was really good and saw the ball well. He's been hitting the ball well in the first couple of weeks and just had run into some tough luck, but he just had one of those days today. The guys in the middle of the order have been really good. Anytime you get that kind of production up and down the lineup it adds depth and length to the lineup." – Head Coach Ryan Folmar

Game One Turning Point

Coffey used one swing of the bat to bury Purdue in the opening contest turning a 1-0 lead into a four-run advantage in the fourth. The freshman from Goleta, California, pulled a 2-2 pitch deep over the fence in left field for his first collegiate home run. Andrew Pace hit a one-out single to get the offense going and Riley Keizor drew a walk setting up the big, two-out swing from Coffey.

Inside the Game One Box Score

- McMinn was in command all afternoon retiring 10-straight batters early in the game before the Boilermakers broke his no-hit bid in the fifth. The senior was forced to exit with two outs in the top of the ninth after being hit by a line drive, but earned his second win of the season throwing 8.2 innings and striking out six without issuing a walk.

- Coffey entered the day without an RBI to his credit, but finished as one of the team leaders posting four RBI in only three plate appearances getting a three-run home run in the fourth. The freshman later added a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

- McCutchin blasted his second solo home run of the year giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 edge in the bottom of the second. In the sixth, he lined a double off the wall finishing 2-for-4, while Henson had the same 2-for-4 effort hitting two singles.

- Keizor reached base three times going 1-for-2 at the plate and drew two walks scoring a team-high two runs.

Game Two Turning Point

The Golden Eagles wasted no time in tagging the Boilermakers for an early lead as Keizor and Coffey had run-producing swings in the bottom of the first. Keizor ripped a two-run single to center scoring Hunter Wilson and Blake Hall before Coffey added a double just inside the third-base line plating Keizor and McCutchin to put ORU in front 4-0.

Inside the Game Two Box Score

- Coffey continued his hot streak at the plate as he drove home two with a double in the first inning before another home run in the seventh.

- Henson lifted a long ball to straight away center field in the bottom of the sixth, his team-leading third long ball of the season. The Pryor, Oklahoma, native closed game two with another multi-hit performance and two runs scored.

- Colton Larkins was effective in relief as the senior did not allow a base runner over 3.2 frames from the bullpen picking up his first win of the campaign. He retired 10-straight Purdue hitters to finish his day and struck out four before Sam Rainwater tossed the final, scoreless inning.

- Pace and Keizor each added two RBI, Wilson crossed home plate three times and Anthony Martinez had a two-hit outing in game two.
